About

As a Dreamling Zakri is, strictly speaking, an incorporeal being. His physical form is effectively a shell - while it operates much like a normal human form, it lacks certain normal human functions like a heartbeat (or so Zakri claims, anyway). In dream, both his form and general function are normal, unless someone's conscious or subconscious demands otherwise.

An individual with an outwardly whimsical, flirtatious personality, it's difficult to see past that thanks to Zakri's race and circumstances. As a product of dreams, he's effectively aware of most anything anyone could wonder about, and typically can perform most tasks effortlessly and perfectly. So, it's hard to guess that beneath the cheerful surface lies something a little more broken, a little more lost. Zakri has no intentions of speaking on that side of himself, instead brushing it off as though it's a simple impossibility.

first impressions At first blush, Zakri seems to be a whimsical person. His every move is easy and light, and Zakri acts quite charming. It's easy to write him off as harmless or ethereal or both.

Which, really, he is mostly harmless. In fact, Zakri is more interested in hitting it off with people than anything else, and it's this side of him that he shows above all others. Occasionally, one might see a more serious side to him, particularly when someone is especially upset - but generally, it's hard to come up with too many comments besides him being generally easygoing and pretty easy to get along with.

features Zakri's eyes, in particular, change colour based on how full his energy is, from a dull grey to a vivacious blue-green. Being a dreamling, he can gain only a small amount of vitality from normal human food and drink - eating within someone's dream grants sustenance as real food would a human, but otherwise it's like eating diet food.

The other way that he gains energy is to share intimacy with mortals. The exact level of intimacy doesn't much matter - though the closer to sexual or romantic intimacy it runs, the more he gains from it.

Effectively, this is simply a survival instinct. Zakri's able to tell at a glance when someone is of any race that does or can dream. He can't tell, necessarily, what race they are or anything about that race - only that they do or don't dream, and are or aren't an average human.

physical world: commanding voice

Though he finds it rarely necessary, with a small expenditure of energy, Zakri can take on an affect with his voice. The applications are quite limited, and anyone too strongly affected by their discomfort, or otherwise with any resistance to influencing sounds or actions, will find little to no change.

For those who are affected, the affects Zakri can take on are calming/soothing, arousing, or unsettling.

dreamscape - overview

Within dream, Zakri is at his most powerful. No matter the type of dream an individual is having, a Dreamling who has entered a willing acquaintance's dream can manipulate them in any direction, within the conscious and subconscious limits of that individual.

As to what he can do, there are few specific limits. His form is dictated by what an individual expects him to look like, and his abilities stop only where someone thinks they should. Being that dreams are a land of possibility, this results in few limits outside of the fact that things are within a dream. He can inflict no real harm on an individual whose dream he has entered willingly.

dreamweaving

While entry into a willing subject's dreams is effortless and broadly powerful, it is possible for a Dreamling to enter a person's dreams without their consent. This practice has come to be known as Dreamweaving, and it comes at a hefty cost to a Dreamling's personal energy stores.

A Dreamling is in whatever form they choose to take - Zakri, in particular, has one chosen form for "pleasant dreams" and one for "nightmares." Each action physically taken against an individual's dreamscape when one isn't wanted comes at a cost - as such, the stronger the Dreamling, the more they can dreamweave. For Zakri, he doesn't like weaving in the first place - his energy stores are not small, but they are precious to him, as are his relationships with those around him.

Dreamweaving is almost invariably done for one of two reasons: to help someone who has been trapped in dream or some sub/unconscious state, or to harm someone. Regardless of function, the cost of adjusting anything within a dreamscape is the same. If a dreamling should want to nullify a nightmare creature, they must first expend the cost of removing the creature, then expend the cost of replacing it with something more suitable.
